Adding an item to My…

The My menu is just the same as most of the other dynamic menus in QVSData, Basically it can have whatever you want, and don’t forget you are not stuck with most of the other menus either.

The menuing tool will open and the initial screen looks like this:

There is a plus sign beside each main menu bar item.

Find My.. and click the + sign

Let’s add a web cam. Click on Web Cams. Yes it is greyed out but all that means is that it is a fixed menu.

When you click on Web Cams the Add menu becomes available

Click add and you get a drop down menu with three options:

The first two are fairly obvious, and the third…well I will come to that later.

Click on Add a new item

Add the name for your menu, for example Mt Rainier Cams, and then click on OK.

Click on Yes if you wish to continue. You are now ready to fill in the details. Note: You do NOT need to click on edit when you are adding a new menu item.

Expand this screen shot for the next instructions (or not if you can read it OK)

Paste the URL into the URL text box.

Enter a tool tip if you wish: e.g. “Check out Mount Rainiers live webcams” BUT and this is a BIG BUT, do NOT have a quote mark in the text. It will crash the program. (I will fix this later)

“Check out Mount Rainier’s live webcams” is NOT permitted.

Click Save Changes and the editing area will change colours.

Click close on the top bar of the Window and you will get a final change to abandon all changes.

Go back to the main QVSData program if it is still open, and close it. Then reopen it and….
