Volcanoes

Volcano information gathered from various sources, including the Smithsonian Weekly Volcanic Activity Report from which confirmation of reports is taken. A volcano is only included in the listing if there is significant ash above 1km height (white/steam clouds are not counted) or there is a significant lava flow. Crater incandescence, unless accompanied by the either of the preceding does not qualify as an eruption.

Dukono (Halmahera Indonesia)

In the absence of any discernable information I have assumed on the chart that volcanoes that were showing activity last week are still showing activity this week.

Hekla is in the news for the past couple of weeks. The latest is that there is nothing to report as yet. This is a follow-up from the 17th March – Hekla Volcano &quotCould Erupt Soon&quot.
The magma chamber under volcano Hekla is now almost full, according to Páll Einarsson, professor in geophysics at University of Iceland.
